Top Five Albums This Christmas

21 Dec

So, christmas is near and this is another one of my amazing gift guides, this time for the perfect safe bet for any christmas present, a CD (Or vinyl if you’re hipster and that). Whatever form of media you want to give them songs on, its the perfect christmas present, they’ll be playing those tunes all over the holidays. So here is the top five Albums to get someone this christmas, enjoy!

#5 – Hurry Up We’re Dreaming – M83

So yeah, this album is pretty amazing, you’ve probably heard “Midnight City” on radio or the like, and to be honest the entire album is amazing, make sure you get the Bonus Edition, which has 30 tracks of techno-dreamy M83 goodness. Buy it here

#4 – Cruel Summer – Good Music

This album features rappers from Kanye’s GOOD MUSIC label, with the likes of Kid Cudi, Big Sean and Pusha T. Probably my favourite track is ‘Clique’, but ‘Mercy’ and ‘New God Flow’ are pretty sick aswell. Get it here

#3- Born To Die: The Paradise Edition – Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey’s ‘Born To Die’ was released right at the start of this year to critical aclaim, now her re-release of the album adds 9 news songs, in the ‘Paradise Edition’. Pretty good songs, reminiscent of 1960’s hipsteresque music. Get it here

#2- Channel Orange – Frank Ocean

This album is fantastic for a chill-out afternoon, coming from one of the best new voices in the music scene. There’s a bit of something for everyone, with ‘Pyramids with it’s synth hooks, and ‘Lost’ with a real groove baseline. So yeah, get it here

#1- Until Now – Swedish House Mafia

Well, this album (if we can call it that) is actually insane. It’s probably not classed as an album but more as a mix, it features songs from other artists, without any alterations at all. I think SWM were going for you can just play the disk at a party and you get a bit of everything. But then there are some of their own songs, there’s ‘Save The World’ and ‘Don’t you worry Child’, both of which are epic songs. Get it here
